Female Fight Fans
supporter campaign
The Female Fight Fans (FFF) is a media network that’s dedicated to creating content for women combat sports fans, for women combat sports fans. But more than that, we empower women through the beauty, power, and strength that’s found in martial arts. The idea for the site was born out of a need for fight news and content that wasn’t viewed from the male gaze...in other words, idea sharing that came from the perspective of women, when discussing the ins and outs of mixed martial arts, boxing, and other forms of unarmed combat. Before I started FFF, I found MMA in a much different way than most – after picking up former UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey’s memoir at a Barnes & Noble at age 20. Quickly inspired, I started researching the fights I was reading about...and the rest is history. As I started to watch fight previews, analysis, and pursue the MMA media world for news content, I quickly saw a gap. Not only were the vast majority of the executives, reporters, and writers men, but they were clearly speaking to an audience that was assumed to be male as well. Frustrated by the lack of diversity in the content, I wanted to use my backgrounds in journalism, entrepreneurship, and gender studies to create a network that would speak to female fans. Our goal is not to just to build a network, but a movement, where women feel welcome, inspired, and at home in combat sports. Welcome to the club. Erin McKelle Founder/CEO
